The expert staff at Silvert’s Furniture can help. After all, the retailer has been in the business for 80 years and its longevity and reputation for providing quality merchandise plus excellent service has followed it since it has been a part of the South Street streetscape.
Whether it’s a trip for browsing, just musing about your home’s future decor or for a purchase, the personal service, staff designers and the attractive furnishings on display in all types of styles makes a trip to Silvert’s Furniture an adventure in fine furniture shopping.
The business, started by Isadore Silvert in 1929 was passed on to his son Harry who ran the store with his wife Evelyn until 2004, when Harry passed away. The business is now run by Harry’s son-in-law Larry Iserson and his general manager, Tony Capalbo. Between them the two have over 70 years of furniture experience and work hard to maintain Silvert's motto, “giving customers the best selection at the best price.” And Iserson noted, Silvert’s is one of the oldest family-run furniture stores in the state.
The showroom offers food for thought and stimulates your creative imagination as you walk through the various vignettes. From an extensive collection of leather furniture by Italian manufacturer Natuzzi to the tried-and-true traditional pieces that speak of venerable elegance, Silvert’s 40,000-square-foot showroom has something for everyone’s taste, including a collection of entertainment centers in various styles to accommodate Plasma TV and electronic gear. Theater seating complete with reclining comfy chairs with cup holders, just like the movies, are also on display here.
In addition to complete room vignettes, the showroom also displays some lovely occasional pieces such as figurines, bookends, clocks, mirrors, decorative boxes, chests, and accessories.
Silvert’s is unique in that, in addition to carrying a myriad of furniture pieces and accents, it also specializes in designing rooms for the many active adult communities in the area. Silvert’s even carries many of the floor plans for the communities. The team specializes in helping residents use what they have and combine their present furnishings with some new pieces to make it all work.
“We will customize plans to fit your needs, your style, your pocketbook,” he said, adding that he has furniture pieces in every price range. The business also has a comprehensive web site where many products can be seen in various areas including dining, area rugs, bedroom, kitchens, living rooms, media rooms and bathrooms.
